On the first 12", 'Tell Them' features remixes from the don Mark E (MERC / Under The Shade / Jisco) and Kez YM (YORE). The Kez YM Remix was given an airing on Worldwide with Gilles Peterson (9/3/2011). The Mark E remixes are done in his trademark slow-mo beatdown house style, keeping it slow burning. Kez YM adopts the more Theo Parrish / Moodymann style deep house approach with jazzy chords.

Renowned DJ Kon plays Auckland's Rising Sun for the first time Friday 20th August.

Kon embodies the soul of hip-hop. His compilations (with partner Amir) regularly unearth unknown, sometimes unreleased jams and anoint them classics. Kon's DJ aesthetic owes much to his East Coast upbringing in Boston, Massachusetts, mere hours from New York City, the birthplace of hip-hop. Over a lifetime of collecting, Kon's excavated records are rare classics, pulling from the best in deep funk, soul, jazz, R&B, Latin, reggae, and of course, hip-hop. Over the course of a twelve year career as a club, party and world class DJ, he's toured with likes of Sugarhill Gang, Gilles Peterson, A Tribe Called Quest, J Rocc, KRS 1, Kenny Dope, Pete Rock and ?uestlove. His discography goes eight albums deep and has gained legendary status oversees while achieving domestic recognition from some of the most beloved beat-diggers, DJs, and producers in the game. Lord Finesse has referred to Kon and Amir as "Two of the most extraordinary but underrated beat diggers in the game," and turntable virtuoso A-Trak regard their compilations and mixtapes as underground DJ classics.

Supporting DJ Kon in his Auckland debut is BBE labelmate and HIQI stalwart of style Julien Dyne (Opensouls), the mysterious disco king Frank Booker and the 'Don of Detroit' himself Recloose.

Hit It and Quit It Revue ft DJ Kano (MELB) - Sat 13th March

For six years, Kano ran Str8up — Melbourne's future jazz, freestyle grooves and broken beat institution — on Fridays at Revolver, mixing the sounds of now with the sounds of old school hip hop, funk, boogie and disco alongside a host of local DJs and guest musicians. It was there that Kano also introduced to Melbourne's shores some of the finest international guests like Rainer Truby, Mad Mats and Mark De Clive-Lowe.

Kano's sets have been heard alongside Jazzanova, United Future Organisation, Gilles Peterson, Mark De Clive-Lowe, Nitin Sawhney, Recloose, Kruder and Dorfmeister, LTJ Bukem, Fat Freddys Drop, De La Soul, Young Disciples, Louie Vega, Kid Koala, LTJ Bukem, Kevin Saunderson, Black Eyed Peas, Minus 8, Runaways, Norman Jay, Russ Dewbury, Mark Rae, Rainer Truby, Gotan Project, Jose Padilla, Bugz in the Attic, Bebel Gilberto, Joe Bataan, Lonnie Liston Smith and Gil Scott-Heron to name just a few.

Fresh from the super hype Trus'me gig, we're proud to present a special one-off night at Khuja Lounge. DJ Kano, Recloose & Frank Booker throwing it down for a night of boogie, disco, soul, hip hop and anything else that takes their fancy!
