With this release, Masstropicas begins its fascinating journey through time into 1970s Peru. Peruvian cumbia, the heartbeat of the nation that was and is loved by millions, has been rescued and is now being lovingly introduced to North American audiences.
There’s no better way to start than with the hypnotic electric guitars of the jungle, fabulously played by Ranil & his Tropical Band. The band originally hails from the Belen district of Iquitos, nestled within the heart of the Amazonian rainforest. The town is famous for being flooded for several months, transforming it into a steamy South American Venice; this undoubtedly influences its people and their music.
During our journey, you’ll enjoy the different sounds of jungle music we bring to your stereo. Mix a bit of lush greenery, cool waters, surging heat, sweat, joy, and psychedelia — Ranil & his Tropical Band are the final product.
