Round At Bays is a loose grouping of musicians/friends assembled by Will Ricketts, percussionist, keys player and backing vocalist in The Phoenix Foundation, and also Wellington legends Scribes Of Ra, The Eggs and Hori Buzz.
The project came to fruition after Mike Fabulous stayed with Ricketts while finishing The Black Seeds material. Needing an outlet for his own musical ideas, Ricketts soon took up Fab's suggestion of getting a crew together, recording the tunes properly and releasing them on vinyl
Recorded at Ricketts' home in Kilbirnie, the musicians involved also include Riki Gooch (Eru Dangerspiel, Trinity Roots), Julian Dyne (Opensouls), Sam Lindsey, Joe Lindsey (Fat Freddy's Drop), Sage Kamaru, Toby Laing (Fat Freddy's Drop), Mike Fabulous (The Black Seeds), Dan Yeabsley (Twinset) and uber-talented vocalist Mara TK.
Both sides of this 12" showcase a sexy, slinky style of purely Pacific soul, each side with their own distinct flavours.
