Splore is a summer outdoor festival devoted to art, culture and community. With the 10th anniversary due to be staged on the 14-16 February you can expect Splore 2014 to be an absolute cracker.
With the main stage located right on the beach, festival attendees can dance or float to an eclectic line up of world class local and international music. There is a dynamic visual arts programme of interactive and engaging projects, a diverse range of theatre, cabaret and performance shows, a dedicated kids zone (Rumpus Room) and a range of workshops and activities.
The Splore kaupapa (philosophy and ethos) is about celebrating arts and culture with a community of like minded people who love and respect our environment. Everyone who attends and contributes to Splore are part of the overall experience and are responsible for creating the magic that often happens within the mantle of the land - Tapapakanga.
Tapapakanga Regional Park is a precious and beautiful coastal park that offers safe swimming on a pohutukawa fringed coast line, with a fresh water lagoon and stunning vistas over to the Coromandel peninsula . We are privileged to be able to come and live, play, love and party together on this sacred land that has significant historical stories with the tangata whenua Ngati Whanaunga, Ngati Paoa, the Ashby family and Auckland Council.
The Splore management team is committed to developing and improving our sustainability initiatives for Splore2014. Our aim is to reduce the festival footprint and facilitate proactive features that will make Splore 2014 a leader in this area. For this to happen we all need to work together as a community and make this a reality.
