Early in 2013, Christoph El Truento started writing the music for his second album, picturing an imaginary soundtrack for a children's book. Together with fellow New Zealander Julien Dyne, he started working on the drum side of things, aiming at a more light-hearted, acoustic sound compared to his chopped up hip-hop beats. With the help of Karnan Saba (horn arrangements), Simon Koziarski (guitar) and various guests on vocals, A series of oopsie daisies[…] has become a beautiful record defying easy classification.
Only in his mid-twenties, Christoph El Truento previously released one album under his name, produced the latest album by New Zealand's hip-hop “super-group” @peace, and appeared on several compilations. He released on BBE, Wonderful Noise, Project:Mooncircle, and Young, Gifted & Broke.
Nutriot –pronounced as in “[wal]nut“ and “riot”— started out as a music blog in 2008, operated by two music enthusianst who met by pure chance in the vast concrete jungle of São Paulo, Brazil. The idea to turn this into a record label is as old as their friendship, but it wasn't until now that this dream materialized into a first release. The label-branch Nutriot Recordings is operated mainly from Vienna, and considers itself a vinyl-first label with no genre boundaries.
