Record Collector - Black or Grey Heather - $65
Record Collectors are the archivists and archaeologists of sound that have influenced countless artists and culture simply by unearthing music that would have not been heard by the general public. When you listen to great musicians and producers talk about what made them create, it always involves someone putting a record (or instrument) into their hand that changed their life. At 101 Apparel, records have been a primary creative force in design, inspired by those early experiences dancing to records, collecting and listening to them, being stimulated to create by the sounds contained within and being
motivated to seek out new ones
El Ritmo De Los Tropicos - Available In Charcoal Heather - $65
El Ritmo de Los Tropicos (“Rhythms of the Tropics”) pays tribute to the music that originated within the tropics, from Brazil to Colombia, Cape Verde to Ethiopia, from Congo to Ghana and everything in between. The sounds emitted from that sweltering humid climate are an infectious and intoxicating hybrid of deep African, Latin, and Middle Eastern rhythms that have become an inspiration to modern producers today. Whether’s it’s salsa, cumbia, batucada, or afro caribbean highlife, tropical rhythms are an essential foundation and influence on producers, collectors and music curios. This vintage design has images of various percussion instruments, a xylophone and the text “El Ritmo de los Tropicos” in a font inspired by the records of that era. This one is for the latin and african music junkies, djs, producers and artists influenced by tropical music and for all the dancers who get down to percussive polyrhythms.
Scientist Meets The Space Invaders - Available In Black - $65
101 Apparel teams up with HVW8 on this special collab with The Scientist! The Scientist is a legendary dub producer from Kingston, Jamaica who is one of the original creative forces behind dub music who was taught the tools of the trade by the master himself, King Tubby. The name Scientist was given to him by Tubby when he saw his forward thinking technical prowess in the recording studio when he was just a teenager. Since then the name Scientist is synonymous with hard hitting spacy dub that will shake your subwoofers down to the foundation. Scientist meets the Space Invaders is a classic record with a sci-fi theme that has inspired countless of dub artists along with many electronic music producers for it’s unique use of delay, effects and reverb in the mixing desk. This design takes inspiration from the record art from that album and brings it’s own 101 Apparel flavor to the table. Dub heads, reggae aficionados and forward thinking musicians and producers will surely dig this one.
Sound Waves - Available in Navy - $65
Soundwaves is a unique design with a futuristic aesthetic inspired by the science of sound. If you have ever recorded music then the image of sound waves will be a familiar pattern that you edit, cut, and paste to create your tracks. Vibration patterns are what creates sound waves and we wanted a design that takes that idea and makes it a visual entity of its own. This shirt is for the audio scientists, technology heads, visual thinkers and those that dig on the building blocks of music and sound. This design has the text “Sound Waves” and “Universal Rhythm” underneath.
The Revolution Will Not Be Televised - Available In Black - $65
