Dexter is re-visting some super classic breaks and a certain Mayer. Originally made for the Beat Battle in Duisburg earlier this year that Dexter won. Due to popular demand we are now sharing some extended versions of his winning beats via a limited 7" single.

What we're gonna do right here is go back ...way back, back into time. Back in the day when people had to go to the record store, to check out the latest jams. When producers would only sample from original pressings - no reissues, not bootlegs (let alone mp3s or You Tube). Many of these cats had been schooled by Breakbeat Lenny's infamous Ultimate Breaks & Beat comps. The series is like the the DNA of 80s and 90s rap and was followed by similar comps like "Dusty Fingers" and "Strictly Breaks".

With "Ultimate Breaks & Dexter" the Hi-Hat Club Producer ("The Jazz Files") and part-time MC (Dexter & Maniac) is giving respect to the pioneering loop diggers and beat scientists in his very own way. This 3-track 7" single is no throwback boom-bap nostalgica, it's fresh for 2012 (you suckas!).

Blazing back onto the radar with one of the most anticipated and long-awaited albums yet on Brainfeeder is SAMIYAM. Sam Baker's Album is 40 minutes of deviant listening pleasure, a series of woozy, off-center hip hop instrumentals drawing heavily on Baker's love of electronic funk but never obligated to it.
Intensely detailed and carrying considerable emotional weight, this is not Rap Beats Vol. 2, but rather an album of fully realized tracks that stand on their own, knee-deep in the groove and bent to the side. Sludgy, chunky beats mesh with organic sounds and fractured stops and starts, all coming together like the pieces of a demented dream. SAMIYAM moved to Los Angeles from Ann Arbor, Michigan in 2006; in his short time on the West Coast he has become one of the city's most progressive and recognized producers, a man who has helped spearhead the revival of interest in instrumental hip-hop music. His album Rap Beats Vol. 1 was the first release on the Brainfeeder label, and SAMIYAM's raw hip hop sound with a psychedelic edge and off-kilter beats could be called quintessential Brainfeeder style.

It's not common for an artist based in Wales to become the toast of underground music, but Doc Daneeka is just that. With releases on Ramp, Fabric, PTN, & Well Rounded in the bag, Doc Daneeka has started his own boutique label, Ten Thousand Yen, releasing other fresh artists like CRST, Julio Bashmore as well as his own unique material. Bookings all around Europe at the end of last year solidified Doc Daneekas energetic DJ sets as one of the most sought after performances by clubs all around the world.

If UK Funky is to escape its zeitgeist and enjoy the same kind of longevity as the genres it makes a living from distilling, it will need producers like this. The Welshman's been dropping hints of subtle flair ever since his track "Drums in the Deep" appeared on Fabric's Elevator Music back in January, and now with only a handful of remixes and a single EP under his belt, seems to have hit an early maturity with "Hold On."

Delivering scorching mixes for the likes of Fact Mag & Xlr8r, trademark rattling drums and punchy low end characterise this producers unclassifiable DJ sets, as well as countless unreleased dubs.

Doc Daneeka makes some of the best house music around right now - with peers in Hackman, Roska and Julio Bashmore, he favours syncopated beats and polyrhythms over linear drive, and has remixed Delphic, Digital Mystikz and more in the past to great effect. His releases for PTN have shown eight slabs of colourful house almost impossible to avoid getting physical to. Doc Daneeka is delivering the goods, while wearing the weight of internet expectation. Uk Dance music's health and sound has never been so rude.
