Due out soon, to pre-order please contact us at info@conch.co.nz
Track List & Soundclips:| Land Of Confusion (Ticklah Rmx) | ||
| Confused Dub |
Originally released as the B-side to "Life" on Black Redemption, Land Of Confusion was voiced at Ticklah's studio and released in 2007. Three years later, Ticklah has arranged a new instrumental track around the vocal, adding his own signature out-board effects, percussion and keyboard harmonies to the conscious lyrics of the "Commander". The resulting track and version are a musical gem, melding the dub experimentation of Creation Steppers with the inimitable spirit of Studio 1 and Soul Syndicate. It's no surprise then that Jah Shaka has offered steady support for this track on his soundsystem time and time again! Three years in the making and well worth the wait.
Sugar Minott is a hard act to follow, but there could be none better than Judah Eskender Tafari. Coming up at the height of roots reggae music, Judah first performed as a musician at 12 Tribes shows in Jamaica and later recorded his first big releases at Studio 1. Beginning with "Jah Light", he went on to record other hit songs like "Rastafari Tell You", "Always Trying" and "Just Another Day". These tracks and many more have gained him international notoriety in the past 30 years and lead up to his work with Ras Kush's Black Redemption label. In all of his music Ras Kush delivers a positive message of Faith, Hope and Charity.
NYC based keyboardist, engineer, and producer Victor Axelrod, aka Ticklah, has been a continual and integral part of the NYC music scene for over a decade. He is a founding member of Sharon Jones and the Dap-Kings, Antibalas and the Easy Star All-Stars with whom he continues to record and perform. In the past several years he has recorded keys for Mark Ronson, D'Angelo, Estelle, MIA as well as the Amy Winehouse. In addition to Liondub45 he has released his own work on the NYC reggae label Easy Star. Wether its a dubbed-out Sharon Jones remix or an original groove built form the ground up, Ticklah's tracks are always captivating and rich with sonic detail.
Liondub45 is a label which specializes in collectible, deep, vintage dub and scorching Roots Reggae 7”s and showcases the talents of a veritable who's-who of modern dub producers and original foundation vocalists.
Actress - Harrier ATTK / Gershwin 12" (NON PLUS)
Available Here
Tracks & Soundclips: 1. Harrier ATTK 2. Gershwin With a sound that no one can quite touch, nor classify, Actress took the electronic spectrum into another direction entirely last year with "Splazsh". The album brought dynamic hypercolour to the insular greyness that his "Hazyville" album captured so well. After his acclaimed debut on Nonplus+ in 2010 - the astral "Machine And Voice" EP, the intriguing artist returns to the label with "Harrier ATTK / Gershwin". A bonafide classic to sit in the ranks alongside Cybotron, in comes a typically all-encompassing, textured four-on-the-floor stomper from Actress. "Harrier ATTK" brings back the smoky, blurriness of "Hazyville" with an especially hypnotic twist. It’s the kind of Actress track that makes a listener lose all sense of time and space; a head nodder that could stay on loop for days, where the smallest subtleties come out loudest. Equal parts sublime and austere, a simple melody loops as a clean bass drum hits gently, and tangible sounds crack in the background. "Gershwin" conjures the bright metallics and intricate programming of a Ford workshop in a futuristic, sci-fi Detroit, but without the repetitive motion: no two bars are the same, and the track moves through so many colors and sounds it’s hard to keep up. Slamming with sharp, piercing lasers, roughly cut beats sit on a building melody that wraps itself around dreamscape New Order esque synths.UPCOMING: Raashan Ahmad - For What You've Lost LP (TRAD VIBE)
