Now this slipped out there quietly. H/T to Simon Wallace for the tip-off. German label OnGravity Records recently commissioned techno/house legends Moodymann (US) andSinbad (UK) to remix two songs by idiosyncratic syrupy voiced New Zealand Maori soul singer Mara TK. The resultant 12″ record package matches up his two originals ‘Run’ and ‘Anyone Here’ with two shifting mercurial remakes by Moodymann and Sinbadrespectively.
On Moodymann‘s remix of ‘Run’, Mara TK‘s voice finds a new home within a chirping 4×4 frame. Pushing his singing through the center of the song, Moodymann wraps it up in squelching synth stabs, stargazed blips and militant marching techno/house drums. “Run from your culture, away from the valley of fear.”
