Start 2014 with the best night of your year. Start 2014 with the best underground line-up in New Zealand. Start 2014 with Decks On The Beach - the best New Year's Eve party around.
After seven years and more than 30 parties on wonderful Waiheke, the Mum's The Word crew will kickstart your calendar with a night of top-notch tunes in a spellbinding seafront setting.
We're returning to The Venue at Onetangi, the only place in Auckland where the chillout room is the beach.
We'll be unveiling new, improved themes for our three zones - two of them large outdoors areas. One is a magical, secret garden, the other has the twinkling waters of the Hauraki Gulf as a backdrop.
We'll be taking the audiovisual systems to the next level and watch out for a few surprises on the night.
Decks on the Beach. The best way to start 2014.
OUR ULTIMATE LINE-UP
BEVAN KEYS (midnight set) The nicest guy in the business with a crate of tunes sent directly from heaven, Bevan is one of New Zealand's favorite DJs. He's had residencies at Auckland’s best clubs during more than 20 years as a DJ and continues to perform as half of Nice 'n' Urlich. Bevan never fails to get the party started, spinning house, disco and usually some Prince with style and finesse. JAY “Fat Albert” JEFFREY Jay has opened for Jamiroquai at Glastonbury and James Brown at the V Festival, rocked it with Chaka Khan, De La Soul and Norman Jay, and jammed with Pete Tong and Masters at Work in Ibiza. With a killer taste in all things disco, funk, soul and rare groove, not to mention a nifty bit of patter on the mic, Jay's sets at Decks On The Beach are already the stuff of legend. DJ HUDGE The turntablist has DJed from Europe's Alps to Thailand's beaches for almost 25 years. At the UK B-Boy Championships he shared the stage with Kurtis Blow, the Scratch Perverts and more. The Boom Bap founder has supported James Brown's band and was scratch DJ for Shorty, the London band remixed by Fat Freddy's Drop. His Take It 2 the Bridge crew has smashed up Glastonbury more than a dozen times. AVERAGE WHITE DJ Average, if we can call him that, dabbled in most of the emerging dance styles of the 90s before heading off to London to rediscover a long-lost love of funk, soul and disco. With two decades of record collecting behind him no two sets are ever the same, and these days he's likely to drop everything from the most upfront new releases to the deepest, darkest secrets of bygone eras. Average? Anything but.GRASS GREEN GARDEN
MONKEY BOOTS, REED & RADLEY, ANDY VANN, DARREN CLARK Decks On The Beach is proud to announce Grass Green Recordings as host of one of the zones at its New Year’s Eve spectacular on beautiful Onetangi Beach. The Grass Green Garden and its serious sound system will be the perfect setting to showcase the talents of the label’s key acts, who’ve been making waves with more than a dozen number ones on download stores around the world. The line-up will feature the deep house sounds of Darren Clark and Reed & Radley, the chunky grooves of label boss Andy Vann and an exclusive four-hour set from Monkey Boots. MONKEY BOOTS end the year on a high with remixes of their Whitworth Strut EP by edit guru Greg Wilson and Melbourne Deepcast mainstay Andy Hart rocking dancefloors around the world. Expect their set to contain exclusive first plays of tracks from their next two releases, due early next year. If you’ve caught them at any of the Grass Green parties at Ink you’ll know you can expect to be taken on a music journey featuring slo-mo, edits, new disco and stomping house – not to mention live production and sample manipulation. ANDY VANN should need no introduction. He’s played at New Zealand’s most influential clubs in a career that’s spanned more than two decades. His commitment to developing new talent through Grass Green shows his passion for quality music remains undimmed. Andy is also head of HuHu music which features the talents of Toka Project, Littleman Big and many more. Like Monkey Boots, REED & RADLEY have much to celebrate as 2013 draws to a close, with their new NY:NZ EP offering a deep and driving take on the New York garage sounds that have inspired them for so long. And DARREN CLARK, fresh from success with his debut Grass Green release Suzy is back from a fact-finding mission to Berlin and the European festival circuit with a swag of top tunes. Decks On The Beach and Grass Green Recordings: A dream team for the best underground New Year’s Eve party around.UPCOMING: Roy Porter Sound Machine '94 - Generation (TRAMP)
Due out very soon on CD & LP, to pre-order please contact us at info@conch.co.nz
Legendary drummer Roy Porter released his first two albums („Jessica“ and „Inner Feelings“) in the early to mid 1970s. Although he retired from performing in 1978 on health grounds, he continued to give workshops and ran his publishing company. In 1994 he released his final album titled Roy Porter Sound Machine '94 – Generation at the age of 71. Guest musicians include not only original members of the Sound Machine but also the two rappers Ded to the World and Big Born as well as Houston Blue. This album combines organic jazz-funk grooves with Hip Hop beats and rhymes from the 1990s in perfection. Real DJs who still spin vinyl will be pleased with the loud pressing and the fact that it has been properly mastered too.

Yancey Boys - Sunset BLVD. 2LP (DELICIOUS VINYL)
Available Here
Delicious Vinyl proudly releases Sunset Blvd, the new album from Yancey Boys, the group piloted by John “Illa J” Yancey and Frank Nitt. The dynamic new collection is built around previously unheard tracks created by Illa J’s brother: the late, great J Dilla (James Yancey). With Frank Nitt’s standing as J Dilla Music Catalog Curator and the official approval of Yancey Media Group, all productions on Sunset Blvd originate from The Lost Scrolls — the stunning cache of beats Dilla left behind. With its rapturous single “Quicksand” featuring Common, Sunset Blvd also teams Yancey Boys with De La Soul’s Posdnuos (“Beautiful”), The Pharcyde’s SlimKid3 (“Rock My World”), and T3 of Slum Village (“Jeep Volume”), making it clear that the Dilla legacy is being represented by those who knew and collaborated with Dilla in his lifetime. Additional guests on Sunset Blvd include DJs Rhettmatic, C-Minus, and J Rocc (Beat Junkies) as well as rap roughneck Guilty Simpson and R&B strongman Eric Roberson. “We’ve created an album that would make Dilla proud,” says Frank Nitt, who grew up with Dilla in Detroit. “But this isn’t a nostalgia trip: Dilla’s beats were so future-forward that they’re right on time in 2013, and we’ve assembled the best artists possible to represent that.” The road to Sunset Blvd has been paved with hard work and sweet inspiration. In 2008, Illa J began making music under the Yancey Boys banner, with the guidance of Delicious Vinyl Co-Founder Michael Ross and utilizing beats his elder brother left behind. Ross explains: “Putting together the first Yancey Boys album was a unique opportunity to keep it all in the family by giving young Illa J a jump off with unreleased beats of his late great brother. In addition, the record was a unique way to satiate Dilla's rabid fan base with a batch of undiscovered gems. On Sunset Blvd, Illa and Frank dive deep into to a new batch of stunning unreleased Dilla beats to take what we did on the first album to the next level.” SIDE ONE: 1. Dilltro (feat. Dank) 2.
