"Adventures" is the debut full-length album by French producer Dandy Teru. His opus is chock-full of notable guest vocalists and MC's and also includes remixes by Tall Black Guy, Belgian production duo Monkey Robot and his partner-in-crime Quiet Dawn.

In Dandy Teru's own words: "Adventures is a journey. On every side of the project, this opus is an incredible journey into a thema, a group of people (guests and co-directors) and friends, and a travel alone inside my own psychology. It's a witness testimony of a global state of mind, with the thema as the first stone of it: dreams." The album is an eclectic mix of downtempo, Nu Jazz, "Beat" music, Soul, House and Hip-Hop. Featuring up and coming talent such as Sami K who laces the track Burned with his blues-inflected vocals, Chicago MC Rita J on Wake Up Now and Sarah Gessler on Fragile Things, alongside renowned and well-known MC's Moka Only , Ty and Count Bass D. Hailing from Orleans, France, Dandy Teru wears many hats, multi-media artist, artistic director, radio host and selector on Laid Back Radio, but foremost as a music producer. He's been slowly making a name for himself yet still somewhat working in the shadows, with connections and contributions to a slew of young and burgeoning French artists in the Hip-Hop scene such as Tchad Unpoe, Pumpkin, Supafuh, and fellow producers Monkey Robot and Quiet Dawn. His production aesthetic however hasn't gone unnoticed with his inclusion in TBG 's (Tall Black Guy ) Tempo Dreams compilation for Bastard Jazz featuring new producers of note as well as a track on the Do The Dilla 2012 album. Like Showbiz and AG, Twit One and Lazy Jones like their pockets fat not flat. But as fate would have it, this is not always the case with these two young musicians from Cologne. That's why they call their new band Flatpocket and have recorded a concept album based on this topic, titled "Geldfundphantasyen" (german for "Finding Money Fantasies").

It’s been almost three years since the release of Bonobo‘s masterful, mould-breaking Black Sands, an album that saw him touring a hypnotic live show across the world for well over a year. Now, in 2013, he stands ready to take things up yet another notch.  The North Borders is a long stride forward – both a natural evolution and a continuation of the electronic palette of Black Sands. Thematic, resonant, addictive and perfectly formed, it’s a thrillingly coherent statement piece.   
Simon Green was born and grew up in rural Hampshire, escaping to Brighton aged eighteen. There he fell into the jazz/hip hop/funk/soul scene centred around Rob Luis and nights like phonic:hoop. An accomplished musician as a teenager, he began producing his own tracks, pushing at the template established in the sweaty little venues studding the Lanes. Green’s first release came on Luis’ label, Tru Thoughts, when his track ‘Terrapin’ was included on the compilation ‘When Shapes Join Together’ in 1999. His debut album, ‘Animal Magic’ followed the next year, completely self-produced and largely self-played, too. Hailed as one of the “new downtempo pioneers”, Green found himself attracting the attention of other labels and eventually signed to Ninja Tune. In 2003 he released his first album for the label, ‘Dial ‘M’ For Monkey’. This was a time when Green was also focussing heavily on his DJing, playing banging dancefloor sets of hip hop, funk and drum & bass up and down the country and across Europe, a period which reached its apogee with the release of the mix album ‘Solid Steel: It Came From The Sea’. ‘Days To Come’ followed in 2006, Green opting for a lusher, more live sound than on his earlier records. To tie in with this musical development, he put together and rehearsed a live band that could bring the music of his records to life. As a result he has moved from selling out the Luminaire to selling out Koko to selling out Kentish Town Forum and the Roundhouse and producing the live DVD to prove it. ‘Days To Come’ also scooped the Gilles Peterson listnerer’s poll for Album of The Year. At the award ceremonies he met the talented UK soul singer Andreya Triana. Not only did the friendship they struck up result in Andreya’s superb contributions to ‘Black Sands’ but Si has produced the whole of her solo debut, ‘Lost Where I Belong’. Over the last couple of years, Bonobo has become one of the premier artists on the Ninja Tune imprint and certainly one of the most listened to, with over 16 million plays recorded on LastFM. His combination of superb live shows and studio wizardry means that he is now perfectly placed to push on into a yet bigger league. With ‘Black Sands’, Bonobo has made the record to achieve it.

There is no doubt that New Zealand music fans love a good dose of funk. George Clinton’s Parlaiment/Funkadelic thang nearly brought the house down when they performed at The Powerstation two years ago. Now, one of the prime architects of the P-Funk groove will bring his own take on the funk to the very same venue.

FUNKY FRED WESLEY was an integral part of the P-Funk dynasty in the 1970s. In addition to playing on such classic Parliament jams as The Clones Of Dr. Funkenstein and Motor Booty Affair, Fred fronted the righteously funky Horny Horns, a group that also featured fellow James Brown alumni Maceo Parker Richard “Kush” Griffith. Together they laid down some of the nastiest grooves of the 70s on their album A Blow For Me, A Toot To You which was produced by their P-Funk brethren George Clinton and Bootsy Collins.

Now is your chance to experience the funk live as Fred Wesley and his all-star band bring their audacious talent to The Powerstation. You can bet that Fred and his mighty trombone with be reaching back to the classics he laid down with James Brown and The JBs and the P-Funk thang.
